If you have a Userlike Account created after June 13th 2025 or want to add a WhatsApp channel to a newly created organization in an exisiting account, follow the steps shown in this article ⬇
To receive WhatsApp Business API access, you will need the following:
- A Meta Business Account
A valid business phone number that meets the following criteria:
- It has a country and area code, such as landline and mobile numbers
- It's owned by you
- It can receive voice calls or SMS
- It's not a short code
- It's not yet used in the another Meta product, service or platform
- To start the integration process, head to Channels > WhatsApp in you settings menu.
Click on the blue “+Add” Button.
- Continue with the process of granting Userlike Access to your Meta Business Account
If you don’t have a Meta Business Account yet, you can either create one here and start over with the integration, or make use of or partner company 360dialog by clicking on the link at the bottom to start the integration process there as described here
- Log in to your Facebook account:
- Read the info as well as the terms and click on “Get started”
- Fill in your business information or use the data if it already exists:
- Create a new WhatsApp Business account or choose one from the list:
- Add and verify the number you want to connect:
If you try to connect a number, that is already registered to another Whatsapp account, you will see an error message:
If you try to connect a number, that is already registered with to an existing WhatsApp Business account or another Business API provider, you will see this message:
If you continue, your number will be moved from that provider to Userlike.
- Review and confirm the data:
- Meta is now connecting your number to Userlike and confirms it after a few moments:
If you do not have a payment method set up in your Meta Business Account, you need to add one. More information on the pricing for Meta templates can be found here
- Set up a 6-digit PIN Number for the 2-factor-verification.
- After that, the new WhatsApp channel will show up in the channel overview:
You can click onto its name to configure
- Channel name: Name of your WhatsApp channel, not displayed to contacts.
- API key: The API key will be filled in automatically after the setup process is completed.
- Various fields For basic information about your company.
- Widget: Select the widget you want to use for your WhatsApp Channel.
